The Middle School Mathematics Curriculum allows ALL students the opportunity to take Calculus before graduating from Ridgewood High School.
The school realizes a small number of students may be ready to take Algebra in 7th grade. In order to make sure students who are placed into Algebra will be successful in their mathematics studies for the next six years, a list of criteria is used to determine such students. A link will be available soon regarding placement.
As students complete their mathematics studies in 8th grade, some students will still need to reinforce their Algebra skills in ninth grade while other students will be ready to move on to their study of Geometry. For students completing algebra in 8th grade, they can be recommended for one of three courses next year: Algebra 1, Geometry, or Geometry Honors. In order make sure students will be successful in their first year of math in the high school, a list of criteria is used to determine the proper placement for students. Click on the link below to see the criteria used to determine placement.
Please Note: Due to the need to create a master schedule at the high school, teachers will need to make an initial placement in February. This placement is not final and subject to change once students are evaluated using the criteria above. Final placement decisions will be made by the end of April.
